The old adage may be that defense wins championships, and it is likely a familiar tune for Nebraska Cornhuskers fans. After all, it has been defensive failures that have led to plenty of “what ifs” in the short tenure as a member of the Big Ten.
Nebraska’s struggles under Bo Pelini often had to do with the inability of the defensive side of the football to stop opposing star players. UCLA’s Brett Hundley was able to lead his team back from 18 points down in 2013, and just this past season Melvin Gordon single handily erased a 17-3 Nebraska lead with a 408-yard performance.
The good news is a new coaching staff is on hand in Lincoln, Neb. and perhaps things will change. With Randy Gregory off the NFL and some other names gone too, playmaking is a question mark heading in to 2015.
Just how much? Let’s take a look at the inside scoop of the Huskers 2015 defense.
